The short version
FlowVisual processes your process data exclusively on your own device. There is no account, no sign-in and no server that your models are sent to. We never see the processes you build. This website measures its reach with a self-hosted, cookieless tool — the application is not affected by that.

2. The FlowVisual application
2.1 Your process data
Processes, volumes, capacities, cost rates, exported PDFs and every other document you create stay in the file system of your device or on a drive you choose (for example a network share or SharePoint folder). The application does not transmit them anywhere. It contains no analytics, no crash reporting and no usage tracking.
2.2 Licensing
If you obtained FlowVisual through the Mac App Store or the Microsoft Store, purchases and subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple or Microsoft. We receive only anonymised sales reports from those platforms, never your payment data. Their respective privacy policies apply to the purchase itself.
If you obtained FlowVisual directly from us, activating a Pro licence contacts our payment provider Lemon Squeezy (Lemon Squeezy LLC, USA) to validate the licence key. Transmitted in that request are the licence key and a device identifier; the validated licence is then cached locally. No process data is part of that request.
2.3 Update check (direct installations only)
Builds obtained directly from us check for updates on start-up. That request transmits your IP address and the current version to the update server. Store builds do not do this — updates are delivered by the store.
3. This website
3.1 Hosting and server logs
This site is hosted by Vercel Inc. (340 S Lemon Ave #4133, Walnut, CA 91789, USA). When you visit, the hosting provider processes technical access data (IP address, time of request, requested page, referrer, user agent) to deliver the page and to defend against attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — our legitimate interest in operating a secure website. A data processing agreement including EU standard contractual clauses is in place with Vercel.
3.2 Reach measurement with Umami
We measure the reach of this website with Umami, an open-source analytics tool that we operate ourselves. The instance runs on server infrastructure provided by Railway Corp. (USA); the data is not passed on to any advertising network. A data processing agreement including EU standard contractual clauses is in place with Railway.
No cookies, no identifier on your device. Umami stores nothing on your device and reads nothing from it. Recognising a returning visit is done via a hash value computed from your IP address, your browser identification and the current date. That value changes daily and is not stored in a form that could be traced back to you; your IP address itself is not retained.
Recorded are:
- the page visited, and the page you came from
- browser, operating system, device type and screen size
- country, derived from the IP address
- duration of the visit
- individual interactions: which download button was used and where on the page, which situation was selected in the simulation, and clicks on links to flowrefy.com or to our booking page
Why we do this: this site lives on articles and comparisons. Without this measurement we cannot tell which of them actually help anybody. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — our legitimate interest in a website whose content is useful.
Why there is no consent banner. Section 25 of the German TDDDG requires consent for storing information on, or accessing information already stored in, a user's terminal equipment. Umami does neither in this configuration. In our assessment, consent is therefore not required. You can object to the processing at any time under Art. 21 GDPR; in practical terms, any content blocker or a request to us is sufficient.
3.3 Fonts
Fonts are served from our own domain — nothing is requested from an external font provider when you open a page.
3.4 Contact by email
If you write to us, we process your email address and the content of your message to answer it (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR). We delete such correspondence once it is no longer needed and no retention obligation applies.
3.5 Links to stores and to flowrefy.com
The download buttons lead to the Mac App Store and the Microsoft Store, other links lead to flowrefy.com and balane.app. Once you follow such a link, the privacy policy of that destination applies.
4. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). To exercise any of these, write to contact@balane.tech.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany.
5. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when the product or the legal situation changes. The date above states the current version.
